Leandra Medine has changed the way I look at fashion. She’s the brain and the fashion sense behind The Man Repeller. Being a “man-repeller” is a humorous perspective on serious fashion. She says, “Good fashion is about pleasing women, not men, so as it happens, the trends that we love, men hate. And that is fantastic!” Have you seen the ridiculous posts of women’s trends that guys hate that have circulated this website? The Man Repeller is the exact embodiment of the attitude we should have towards getting dressed everyday. She says, “Repelling isn’t about getting dressed and saying ‘How am I going to repel a man today?’ It’s about dressing for yourself and liking what you’re wearing.”

These are some of my favorite photos of her style, but the point isn’t whether we like her style or whether we like each others’. Style is self-expression, and all that matters is that you feel confident and comfortable in what you like. Get dressed for yourself and don’t apologize for what you wear.

Today I’m wearing my BCBG harem pants, platform sneakers, and a cropped, collared polka-dot button-down. I don’t know what anyone else thinks about it, but I feel like it’s me, and I’m proud of that.
